Pediatric otolaryngologists specialize in problems affecting hearing and speech, and congenital and acquired conditions affecting the physical structure of the sinuses, nasal passages, throat, ears, tonsils, vocal cords and neck. These specialists and their team of nurses, audiologists, speech/language pathologists and technicians provide evaluation and treatment of problems of the head and neck.

Our pediatric otolaryngologists are:

  • Judith Blazun, M.D.

  • David Evans, M.D.

  • Michael Kearns, M.D., F.A.C.S.

  • Roseanne Pevec, M.D., F.A.C.S.
A child referred to the Children's Center first undergoes a complete evaluation to determine the cause and severity of the problem. After diagnosis, a number of treatment options are available, including traditional, laser and endoscopic surgery; medications to combat infections; cochlear implants; hearing aids; and physical and occupational therapy to increase a child's functional abilities. Services are provided on an inpatient basis when needed and through Pediatric Rehabilitation Services.

Our health information section contains detailed write-ups on conditions of the ear, nose and throat under the topics: hearing loss and evaluation, ear infections (otitis media), ear canal problems (swimmer's ear), earwax, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), speech and language development and delays, facial problems (noninjury), nose injuries, objects in the nose, and others. For more information about conditions of the ear, nose and throat, visit our health information section.
