Qigong and Tai Chi
Sutter Center for Integrative Health
Long used in China to prevent illness, encourage healing, and promote longevity, Qigong harmonizes breath, movement, and visualization to balance body, mind, and spirit. Qigong exercises and meditations reduce the effects of stress and aging, enhance immunity, lower blood pressure, increase circulation, and build energy (Qi). A Qigong routine can be designed to address specific health and/or emotional concerns.
Originally a martial art, Tai Chi is now practiced for health and offers many of the same benefits of Qigong. Both are practices for people of all ages, levels of fitness and physical capacities. They can easily be adapted for physical limitations.
