When you choose a Sutter doctor, you open the door to a world of health services that ensure you and your family receive the level of care you need. From preventive care to the most advanced medical treatments, Sutter delivers.

Once you have decided to become part of the Sutter Health family, there are a few simple steps you must complete.

1. Choose a health plan that gives you access to the physicians and services available through Sutter Health. Our Tips on Choosing a Health Plan can help you make a decision that considers the special needs of your family. While most health plans provide access to Sutter, please check the list provided in our Health Plans Search.
   
   
2. Select a doctor as your primary care physician. Find out more about our physician family by visiting our physician locator, a searchable database that allows you to review detailed physician profiles. If possible, schedule a get-acquainted appointment with the physician you choose.
   
   
3. Determine which medical group your doctor belongs to. Sutter physicians are part of the Sutter Physicians Alliance and may be affiliated with Sutter Independent Physicians, Sutter Medical Group or Sutter West Medical Group.
   
   
4. Notify your employer or HMO of your choice of medical groups and your primary care physician.
