![]() | A Fresno girl and proud of it -- she has a B.S. in biology from California State University at Fresno and will graduate from the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine June 2008. She has been an active volunteer in the Latino Medical Student Association and became a mentor, assisting underrepresented students pursuing careers in healthcare. |
| Mollie Yi-Ting Teng, M.D. | |
![]() | Attended Tulane University where she received a B.S. in neuroscience. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine in 2007 and completes her Masters of Public Health summer 2008. She hopes to use her skills in order to positively impact individual patients as well as individuals who are part of the larger community. |

| Ninad Athale | |
![]() | Receives his M.D. from the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine this summer. He has a B.S. from the University of Virginia in chemistry and English literature. For four years he participated in a unique medical student fellowship: ASL (American Sign Language), deaf culture and cancer prevention where he became comfortable speaking and signing with deaf patients. His peers elected him to the Gold Humanism Honor society. |
| Emily Lash | |
![]() | Received her B.A. from Stanford University in human biology. She completes her M.D. this summer from Oregon Health Sciences University, School of Medicine. She grew up in a Vermont farm town and eventually hopes to practice in a rural community. She is also a devotee of singing Sacred Harp music, an early American church music style, and sees in community ‘sings’ metaphors for relationships in medicine. |

![]() | Received his B.A. from the University of California, Davis, and then an M.P.H. midway through medical school. He will receive his M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine this summer. Described by his colleagues as soft spoken and unassuming, but with nerves of steel, he values the patient physician relationship as the core to delivering primary care to increasingly diverse communities. |
| Flora Rafii | |
![]() | Received her B.A. in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley and graduates this June from the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine. She has particularly been drawn to community work with those on the margin of society demonstrated by her role as co-director of the Willow's Project, a homeless screening clinic. She recognizes that beyond the tools of natural technology there is healing power in personal relationships. |
